Kay’D (Kayleigh-Dawn Larter) has decided that her future lies in country music and loves to entertain people. Although Kayleigh has been singing since the age of five, It has only been in the last few years that her interest in Country Music has increased, after viewing The Judds ‘Love Can Build a Bridge’, she was transfixed on the true passion in country music and the true meaning it has to people’s lives. She made the decision there and then that country was right for her, to not only reflect on her life and the importance of those around to support her, but most of all to express her feelings and share this with country fans and other country artists. With large influences from the likes of Gretchen Wilson, Lorrie Morgan and Billie Jo Spears, Kay’D’ tries to entertain those country fans with their favourite aspect of country.
After her upbringing in the town of Lowestoft (Suffolk) and her non - musical background, Kayleigh was certain that her talents had to be used wisely and to the benefits of all country fans and the only route she would take would be the one that involved a lot of patience, hard work and all the hope of success at entertaining her audiences. After much torment and teasing from the people around her about country music being a ‘waste of time’, ‘a dead end’ and just plain ‘rubbish’, Kay’D’s determination has reached its highest, to help other country lovers to prove these people wrong and keep country music thriving by doing what she loves the most.
Last year she performed at many country music festivals around the UK to increase her profile and get the opportunity to sing to larger audiences, this proved to be successful as Kay’D has been rebooked at a selection of these festivals along with enquiries from many other organisers and agents. She has already performed on stage with Henry Smith and Country Company and shared the stage with many other top names of the CMC circuit, including the Diesel Cowboys, The Smokey Mountain Boys and
Kay’D has become a cheeky friend of some of the big names of British country music and pays great tribute to Henry Smith who has supported her and been her biggest influence throughout. Kay’D is widely liked and loved, not just for her determination but most importantly, for her beautiful voice that either brings a lump to the throat or just a broad smile to the face. Now, after two years of being around the circuit, Kay’D has taken the next step and has put her own band together. “Kay’D and the Redneck Rodeo” are going to be big news and will set the mould for a new breed of Country Band ...(Tony Lewis)
