Meet the Band:

hank

Hank Taylor, Guitar, Vocals

Hank started off his musical life in 50's Rock 'n' Roll.
His taste in country music is most definitly the early pioneers from the 30s through to 1959. The live show includes material from Hank Williams Snr, Hank Snow, Lefty Frizzel and now, with Steve on banjo a touch of Bluegrass.

Hank has been running The Smokey Mountain boys since 1995. In that time they have undergone several lineup changes. This latest in his opinion being the best.

abbott

Mike Abbott, Bass, Vocals

A new recruit to the New Smokey Mountain Boys is bass player Mike Abbott. One of his first gigs with them was the 2006 Harlow festival . Over the past 30 years Mike has played most styles from Heavy Metal to Dinner Dance.

His Country Music experience ranges over 20 years and covers almost everything from Square Dance to Line Dance. You may well have seen Mike working at major festivals with some of Britain's top bands including The Amand Norman Sell Band, Henry Smith's Country Dreams, The Diesel Cowboys and Nashville Sounds.

The style of the New Smokey Mountain Boys takes him back to his roots.

harropp

Steve Harrop, Steel, Guitar,Banjo, Mandolin, Dobro

Wakefield based Steve Harrop is the latest member of The New Smokey Mountain Boys. A highly talented multi instrumentalist He started off playing guitar way back in the 60s. Moving from a heavy rock band to an Irish showband introduced Steve to pedal steel, other instruments have been added along the way.
